In 2008, when facing the economic downturn and the suffering pool industry, Team Horner™, wholesale pool and spa supply distributor and equipment manufacturer, strived to help its swimming pool dealers grow and prosper. One of Team Horner’s guiding philosophies is “When our customers are successful, we will be too”. So the question arose: What can we do to help our customers and ourselves during this challenging time?

The answer was: Let’s show them how to think OUTSIDE THE POOL and find other opportunities to be successful. If people don’t feel comfortable making the financial commitment for a major purchase like building or renovating their swimming pool, then why not offer them an extension of their house with an Outdoor Living Xperience?

We made a commitment to our customers’ success by creating a beautiful display area on our Fort Lauderdale campus featuring all the “other things” you can put in a homeowner’s backyard. We called this strategy and display area…The BackyardXpo. We live in Florida where everyone wants to be outside enjoying the Florida climate, everyone wants to entertain, and everyone wants a backyard experience. Whether the home includes a pool or not, BackyardXpo offers many products sure to enhance the relaxation and beauty of any outdoor space.

Even in those challenging economic times, the BackyardXpo strategy was a success.

In 2013, Chris Piercy was challenged to expand on that early success by capitalizing on what was done in Fort Lauderdale and spreading it across all the Florida Distribution locations, HornerXpress®.
